About
A mirror that arrived three centimetres too wide
Novelta Mansions is an online retailer based in Indore, Madhya Pradesh, operating online as Novelta Mansions (noveltamansions.shop).
How this started
A hallway in Indore, Madhya Pradesh and an alcove that wanted a mirror. The first purchase was a framed piece listed at 24 by 36 inches. The glass measured that; the frame did not, and the finished piece was three centimetres wider than the alcove it was bought for.
What actually mattered was dull: framed dimensions as well as glass dimensions, the depth of the frame, and the weight the wall had to carry. The listing had given one number where three were needed, and that is the thing this shop refuses to do.
Most of choosing a mirror is measuring the wall and the way in. The finish is the last ten per cent.
Our commitment
No unverified measurements
Where a maker prints a size we cannot check against the piece in front of us, we say it is unverified rather than repeating it.
Two sets of dimensions, always
Every listing gives the framed size and the glass size separately, because a mirror that will not fit the alcove is not a mirror for that wall.
No fitting, no site visits
We supply the mirror and the fixings that come with it. Hanging a heavy piece safely depends on what is behind the plaster, which we cannot see from here, so we will not pretend to specify it for you.
Our story
The catalogue is short and deliberately plain. We would rather sell one mirror whose measurements are right than a wall of pieces that only photograph well.
And we say the thing that costs us the sale: a large mirror on a hollow wall is work for someone with the right fixings, bathroom humidity will eventually darken the edge of any mirror, and no frame makes a piece fit a wall it is too wide for.
Online only
There is no showroom and no walk-in counter. Novelta Mansions trades entirely online and ships across India from Indore, Madhya Pradesh, which keeps overheads off the price of the goods.
